I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings Blog Post #2

"After being a women for the past 3 years, I can finally be a girl."

Instead of doing favorite characters, I'm doing my favorite relationship. The relationship between Maya and her brother Bailey. I love how they seem to have a connect that nobody can understand. With all the things they went through they can just tell with each other. I think that's better than any boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. The feeling of having someone so important in your life, and that you are so important in theirs,
Is the best feeling.

Maya Angelou uses amazing literary devices in her memoir. So much detail and descriptive language it's amazing. Sometimes it gets you off topic because you start thinking about her description and how detailed it is.

One part in "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings", that really stands out is when everyone in their store is crowding around the radio, listening to a boxing match. Everyone is cheering for Joe Louis. So if he wins he can show the world that black lives do matter. At the end of the fight when he wins, Maya says, "Joe Louis had proved that we were the strongest people in the world." This brings to everyone's attention that symbols like Joe Louis can really make a difference and help people realize important problems that are going on in the world.

I love reading memoirs that tell a life story.
Reading about that persons first times. First time crying, laughing, lying, and falling in love. Memoirs tell you about their strengths and weaknesses, all their successes and fails, what they wish they did, and what they wish they didn't do.

In "I know Why The Caged Bird Sings", it tells an phenomenal story with ups and downs of a girl's life in Stamps, Alabama.

I hope many people choose to read this book, because it gives you a new perspective on life, and how you should be grateful for many things in your life.
